The plastic injection process requires several steps. The first step is to make the specific molds needed for the finished pieces. Next in the plastic injection process the plastic needs to be melted. Many types of plastics can be used for plastic injection. The types of plastics used will determine the strength of the finished product when the plastic injection process is complete. Once the molds and plastics are ready the plastic injection machine injects the plastic into the mold. The mold is then cooled allowing the plastic to form the proper shape before removing the mold. Sometimes the molds use freezing temperatures to quickly complete the plastic injection process. Once the molds are cooled the finished products are removed from the plastic injection machine and packaged for shipment. Many industries use products made with the plastic injection molding process.
This innovation enabled both a significant quality improvement and material waste reduction that virtually eliminated scrap. The process involves a high cavity, modular, liquid silicone injection tool and injection machine modifications.
